Dr D Veerendra Heggade roots for revival of Tulu Nadu cultural centres

Apr 03, 2017: Shree Dharmasthala Kshethra Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade at the inaugural ceremony of Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre and Tulu Life Museum representing rich Tulu culture and life style at Sanchayagiri near BC Road, Bantwal over the week end said that the time is ripe to rejuvenate cultural centres in Tulu Nadu particularly as like how temples and other spiritual centres are being renovated in Tulu Nadu

He mentioned, “Tulu region is counted as most developed and developing region in Karnataka after Bengaluru. People of Tulu Nadu yet  follow the rich tradition and culture that was followed by our elders for thousands of years in Dakshina Kannada and nearby districts,” he added.

Speaking on the Tulu Life Museum he said, “A museum is a place where we can visit our past and is the best school to learn new things. A museum can showcase 100-year-old lifestyle of a region through photographs, old materials, tools, equipment and others." Old materials are not scrap materials and they need not be thrown away even though they are not used, he pointed out.

Karnataka State Minister for Forest and Environment B Ramanath Rai, MLA KS Puttannnaiah and others were present on the occasion amidst an enthusiastic crowd of people.
