Dr. Austin Prabhu of USA, gets late Victor Rodrigues memorial Konkani Award 2019

Mangaluru, July 7, 2019: Ln. Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu, well known Konkani litterateur, it is announced has been awarded the prestigious  Late Victor Rodrigues Memorial Konkani Literature Award 2019, The award will be conferred on him on July 21 at Infant Jesus Shrine Auditorium, Bikarnakatte.

This annual award has been instituted by Celine Rodrigues in memory of her husband late Victor Rodrigues, well known Konkani litterateur under the auspices of Samanvaya in 2011. The award is given to writers who have rendered remarkable contribution to Konkani literature.

Lion Dr. Austin Prabhu US based well known Mangalurean, a leading Konkani litterateur who has written plays, books and regular contributor to a wide range of Konkani print and electronic publications, also is the editor publisher of the popular first ’Konkani Electronic Magazine’ on-line - VEEZ .  He started editing and publishing Veez Konkani Illustrated Weekly e-Magazine which has worldwide readers in many countries where Mangaloreans live. Currently he is on publishing it’s 79 th issue. This e-Magazine has a minimum of 46 to 101 pages per every week. A member of St. Bernardine’s Parish, member of Forest Park Chamber Commerce, member of Citizens’ Police Academy, member Neighborhood Watch, Commissioner of Forest Park Diversity Commission and its secretary, and a member of The Forest Kala Sampath Lions Club.

Few of the recent awards: Dr. Lion Austin D’Souza received “District 1A Citizen of the Year Award, 2018.” On March 25, 2018 during  District 1A 50 th Convention. He is one of the members of US President Donald Trump’s Advisory Board and US President’s Life Member, Order of Merit. Honored at the Gulf Voice of Mangalore-6 in Kuwait with a title: “Konkan Karavallicho Veer” on November 9, 2018. Forest Park Chamber Commerce, member of Citizens’ Police Academy, member Neighborhood Watch, Commissioner of Forest Park Diversity Commission and its secretary, and a member of The Forest Kala Sampath Lions Club. A clourful personality who travels the world over promoting Kanara Culture and ethos, his contributions have won applause and awards too numerous to name here.
