Dr. Arunachalam takes charge as Dean and Principal of Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences

Arunachalam KumarMangaluru, March 10, 2016: Dr. Arunachalam Kumar, Professor of Anatomy, has taken over as the Dean and Principal of the Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Deralakatte.

 

Dr. Kumar was earlier the Dean of K. S. Hegde Medical Academy and also Director (R & D) of Nitte University. With 36 years of teaching and research experience behind him, Prof. Kumar is also the author of over 150 published research papers and 14 books.

The Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences is awaiting assessment and approval from the MCI for admission of 150 students into its portals this academic year. The institute has a full-fledged multi specialty hospital of eleven floors is already operational at its campus.


New Welfare Scheme launched at Kanachur Hospital
Childrens’ Future Fund (Makkala Bhavishya Nidhi) a long term child welfare scheme has been floated by the Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences and its attached Kanachur Hospital at Deralakatte. Under the aegis of this 15 year plan worked out in collaboration with Karnataka Bank, all neonates delivered at the hospital will be provided with a 15 year deposit fund entirely borne by the hospital.

The scheme was inaugurated by the state Health Minister, Mr. U.T. Khader at the hospital, where more than a dozen mothers received the bank bonds on behalf of their newborns. The minister congratulated the management for introducing novel child welfare schemes. The Dean of the college, Dr. Arunachalam Kumar, mentioned that besides the government, this was the only hospital to extend such long term welfare schemes for locals and indigent patients. Sri U.K. Monu, Chairman of the Islamic Education Trust spoke on the occasion. Present at the program were Mr Abdul Rahiman, Trustee, Mrs. Zohra Monu, Mrs. Umaya, the Vice Dean, Dr. S. Khandige, other faculty members and nursing staff of the college and hospital.

Mrs. Saritha compeered the program and Dr. Rohan Monis, Chief Administrative Officer of the Kanachur Hospital & Research Center proposed a vote of thanks.
