Donation racket 4 arrested in Moodbidri

Moodbidri, July 9, 2016: Reports say that the police arrested four people for reportedly demanding donation from a shop in Moodbidri. Those arrested are named as Rajesh (29) and Charan (29) from Thokottu, Rupesh (32) from Uppinangady and Prasad (33) from Ullal.


arrestThey had come to Moodbidri in a car which did not have a number plate. Colourful invitation cards in the name of Hanuman Friends were displayed by the group.


The invitation stated that on August 15, various programmes like wheel chairs and books would be distributed to disabled poor students at a ground near Talapady bus stand.

They entered a shop asking for donations. Since they were strangers the owner refused to give donation. The accused tried to convince him old letters and receipts, but the owner refused, they threatened him. The owner immediately informed the police who rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. The car was also seized. It is said that a gang was operating in Dakshina Kannada and they targeted shop owners. Investigations are progressing in the case meanwhile.
