District convention for differently abled held in city

Mangalore, May 28, 2012 : MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated a district-level convention for the differently abled organized by the DK District Federation for the Physically Challenged on May 28, Monday. The organizers also distributed scholarships worth Rs. 500 each to 50 children, 6 wheelchairs, kitchen sets, 6 tricycles, 6 wheelchairs, 5 hearing aid instruments, school bags, 25 crutches, and stationery items.

B. G. Trust of Mangalore and the District Differently Abled Persons’ Welfare Department sponsored the equipment while Anand Shetty, an entrepreneur in Mangalore, sponsored the school bags.

Shri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Shree Kshethra Odiyoor delivered the benedictory address.


Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar P., an office bearer of the DK District Federation for the Physically Challenged, said that many differently abled people were not getting the benefits of various schemes designed for their welfare.


Among the prominent people present were Subbaiah Shetty Lingamarugutthu, honorary president of the federation, Dr. Ravichandran, Dinesh Shetty, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Vijaya Vittalnath Shetty, Rohith Shetty, and Madhava Ullal.
