District Minister Rai appeals for peace; urges people not to pay heed to rumours

Mangaluru, Dec 9, 2014 : DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has appealed to the people of the city and its outskirts to  maintain  calm and not to pay heed to rumours.

Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office here on December 8, Monday in the wake of communal unrest at Ulaibettu and several incidents aimed at disturbing harmony, the Minister also directed the Police Department to ensure necessary steps to maintain peace.

He further appealed to the people against taking law into hands under any circumstance.


Referring to the recent remarks of Union Law Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on the Kasturirangan report and the delay   by the state government in submitting the report, Rai  claimed that there was no delay. He also questioned why only Karnataka is blamed when other states including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state Gujarat have not submitted the report.
He further stated that the Karnataka Government would submit the report after taking everyone into confidence.

Mayor Mahabala Maarla, District Congress Interim President Ibrahim Kodijal, MLA Moidin Bava,  District Youth congress President Mithun Rai and others were present.
