District Congress protests against arrest of D K Shivakumar ; burns effigy of Modi, Shah

Mangaluru, Sep 04, 2019: The District Congress Committee  organised a protest in front of the DC office here on September 4, Wednesday to condemn the arrest of senior party leader and former minister D K Shivakumar by the Enforcement Directorate.

Speaking on the occasion,  former MLA J R Lobo  said the Enforcement Directorate has arrested  Shivakumar alleging he  is not co-operating in the investigation  while the fact was otherwise.

Former minister Ramanatha Rai who also addressed the protestors accused  Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah of resorting to hate politics. All this is done to sideline the failures of their government, he alleged.

The protestors shouted slogans in favour of DK Shivakumar and against the BJP government. They even burnt the effigy of Modi and Shah. Police detained the protestors who tried to block the road.

District Congress President Harish Kumar,  MLC Ivan D’Souza, former MLAs Shakuntala Shetty, Abhayachandra Jain and several party leaders and workers participated in the protest.
