District Congress pays rich tributes to late PM Rajeev Gandhi on his death anniversary

Mangalore, May 21, 2014:  Rich tributes were paid to late prime minister Rajeev Gandhi on the occasion of his death anniversary, at a function organised at the District Congress Office in the city on May 21, Wednesday.

DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai and other party leaders garlanded the portrait of the late prime minister and offered his respects along with other party leaders.

In his address, Rai attributed India’s progress to the farsighted policies implemented during the tenure of Rajeev Gandhi. He also recalled the emphasis laid on Panchayatraj by the late prime minister with the objective of decentralisation of power.

Ibrahim Kodijal, District Congress Interim President, Mahabala Maarla, Mayor, Kavitha, Deputy Mayor, Kallige Taranath Shetty and several others were present.

The meeting also observed a minute’s silence in honour of the soul of Gangadhar Suvarna, a party leader who died in a road mishap recently.
