Mangaluru, Nov 08, 2017: The District Congress observed the first anniversary of demonetisation on November 8, Wednesday as Black Day.
Addressing the protest programme, State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader said the nation’s economic growth which was satisfactory during the UPA rule at the Centre, has plunged under the BJP administration. A defective policy of the government has hit crores of people., he said.
Ivan D’Souza, MLC and Chief Whip of State Legislative Council, who also spoke alleged that none of the objectives of demonetisation have been achieved. It is nothing but a big scam, he said.
District Congress President Harish Kumar in his address said the poor were hit hard by the demonetisation and alleged that it only intended at helping the rich.
J R Lobo, MLA also spoke on the occasion.
Several Congress leaders including Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Deputy Mayor Rajaneesh Kapikad, MCC Chief Whip Shashidhar Hegde, Corporators Sabitha Masquith, Akhila, Appi were also present.
