District Administration to launch Livestock Logistic App

Mangaluru, August, 6, 2019: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has warned of stern action against those who  take law into their hands  on the pretext of thwarting cattle smuggling or on  the suspicion that someone was trafficking cattle.

Speaking to reporters at his office here on August 6, Tuesday, he  pointed out that while there may be issues regarding cattle transportation  during Bakrid,  no one  should take law into hands. In case of suspicion of cattle trafficking  complaints can be lodged by calling 1077 or 100 help lines, he added.

Livestock Logistic Control App: The Deputy Commissioner said the administration has  created an app called Livestock Logistic App  aimed at solving issues pertaining to cattle transportation. The cattle transporters can download this mobile app and furnish details regarding the cattle being transported by them, he said.

Stating that  this information aims at ensuring that the cattle was being transported legally and added that  furnishing info through this app does not mean permission for cattle transportation.

 For the time being, the app will be used only  for transporters to furnish information, Later   there would be a system of keeping an eye on the transportation vehicles through GPS, he said.

The DC said  the app has been developed in the wake of request from cattle transporters and added that  this app will be  helpful to those who transport cattle legally. The App can be downloaded from play store in a couple of days, he added.

SP Laxmi Prasad who also spoke, said  24 patrolling vehicles have been pressed into  service in the district in the wake of Bakrid.

MCC Commissioner Mohammad Nazeer was also present.
