JD (S) leader H. D. Kumaraswamy welcomed them into the party and said that the party requires faithful and honest activists like them. He further said that the “secular and responsible” party, which functions under the guidance of his father H. D. Deve Gowda, always appreciates honest workers and leaders. The JD(S) welcomes anybody who wishes to join the party, he added.

Mr. Hegde responded by saying that he is happy to start a completely new phase in his political career. He also said that the Congress has no future because it is led by the wrong people. Expressing his unhappiness at being sidelined by the party in spite of his loyalty, he said that he was only used as a speaker and that the party never appreciated his abilities.
