Discharges outnumber fresh Covid-19 cases in DK

Mangaluru, Sep 16, 2020:    The discharges of Covid-19 recovered patients outnumbered fresh cases in Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday.

As many as 322 Covid-19 infected have recovered and they were discharged from hospitals and from home isolation. The district recorded 316 fresh cases.

The total positive cases in the district have risen to 18,092, said Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V.

He said, of the discharges, 120 were from home isolation and 202 from hospitals.

Of the fresh cases, ILI continues to contribute the highest with 166 Covid infections. The contact tracing of 31 people is underway.

While 108 infected were the primary contacts of already infected persons, 11 were suffering from SARI symptoms.

Mangaluru taluk continues to dominate the total fresh cases with 148, followed by 44 from Bantwal, 42 from Puttur, 37 from Belthangady, 25 from other districts and 20 from Sullia.

Five Covid fatalities were recorded in the district and the total tally of deaths has reached 452, said the DC.
