Bangalore, Dec 27, 2012: It’s disappointment yet again for the Kasturi channel reporter Naveen Soorinje who is behind bars in the homestay attack case. On December 26, Wednesday, the High Court declined to grant bail to Soorinje and two other accused in the case.

soorije 1Justice, KN  Keshavanarayana, while dismissing the petition of Naveen who is the 44th accused in the case, said the material on record  does not project Soorinje as a ‘whistle blower while it prima facie indicates that he too had come to the place along with the group.”

The court further observed that prima facie, Naveen appeared to have encouraged the happening of the incident and assisted in videography of the same, thus facilitating its telecast on TV channels, causing greater damage to the dignity and reputation of the victims.

The Court also stated that releasing Naveen would not be in public interest considering the manner in which the offence was committed and the fear it created.

“Accused 44 had the information. Nevertheless, the investigating agency was not informed, “the court said.

The court has also rejected the bail pleas of Venugopal and Tharanatha Alva, accused 6 and 7 respectively.
