Dialysis centre to come up in Udupi

Udupi, April 20, 2015: Speaking at the inaugural of the burns ward set up at a cost of Rs 75 lakh by the district administration and Udupi District Hospital, Lions Club and Bharath Electronics Limited, Bengaluru, on April 18, Saturday, Minister for Health & Family Welfare U T Khader said a fullfledged dialysis centre will be started in Udupi District.


ut khader He also said that decision on upgrading Udupi District Hospital will be taken shortly after holding discussion with the concerned authorities.  A fulfledged dialysis centre will come up in the district hospital within a year.


Free treatment will be provided to patients hailing from BPL family. For APL card holders, 70 per cent concession will be provided. Udupi District Hospital will be included in Arogya Sri Yojane. The male ward was inaugurated by District-in-Charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Member of the Parliament Shobha Karandlaje said funds earmarked for social works by the firms should be used for pro-people programmes.  The rural service should be made mandatory for the doctors. Bharath Electronics Limited Director (HR) M L Shanmukh inaugurated the female ward. MLA Pramod Madhwaraj and CMC President P Yuvaraj were present.
