Dharun Of Alva’s- Moodabidri, Represent India in Rio Olympics

Moodabidri July 26, 2016:  Dharun Ayyaswamy will represent India in Rio Olympics on August  05, 2016 in the event 4×400 metres relay. He is the youngest among the sportsmen representing the country.

Dharun (20)from Tamil nadu . A student of second year BHRD from Alva’s College in Moodabidri.  He had secured two gold medals in the recent Asian games.

Dr M Mohan Alva, president of Alva’s Education Foundation Moodabidri helped him  in financial ways so he can participate in the event. He has been awarded Rs 1 lakh by Alva’s foundation for having been selected for the Rio Olympics. Apart from this institution also sponsors Rs 20000 for his training every month.

Along with him Inderjeet (Shot Put) sponsored student of the institution, Poovamma and Ashwini Akkunje both old students of Alva’s will represent India in Rio Olympics. Sathish Rai who had participated in the in 1996 Atlanta Olympics is also from Alva’s.
