Addressing the protesters, Sheela K. Shetty, president of the district unit of the morcha, said that lawlessness was ruling the State. The Congress government was doing almost nothing to prevent atrocities on women, she alleged.

If sexual assaults against women could take place in the State capital Bengaluru, the dangers that women faced in villages without power supply could well be imagined.  As the government could not stop assaults on women, it would better for the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tender his resignation.

Shyamala Kundar, BJP leader, said that the morcha would launch continuous protests if the government failed to check atrocities and assaults on women. The government should strengthen laws dealing with assaults on women. Those who committed sexual assault on women should be given maximum possible punishment including death penalty.
