Dharmasthala: Minister S.R. Patil regrets entry of caste politics to literary arena

Belthangady, Nov 23, 2014: State Minister for IT, BT S.R. Patil  has  regretted the entry of caste politics even into the literary arena. The term  secular  as enshrined in the constitution has today become weak owing to casteism which until now ruled  political field, he further said.

The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the 83nd Sahitya Sammelan organised at the Amritvarshini Hall here on November 22, Saturday as part of Dharmasthala Lakshadeepotsava.

 

Along with religious heads even writers have the responsibility of bringing the society on the right track. “Literature is like a reflection of life and society,” the minister said. Literature also has the capacity to rise up against oppression, he further opined.

On this occasion, he also launched the Facebook page of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala (www.facebook.com/sri.kshetra.dharmasthala.manjunatha).

Eminent writer Siddalinga Pattana Shetty who presided over the function, said  the society pays little respect to “Guru” and said  politeness and the  heart to respect and honour  our elders and teachers is essential.

Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Dr C. Somashekhar of Bengaluru, Dr PK Rajashekhar, retired professor of Mysore University, Dr Dharani Devi Malagatti, Deputy Director of Police Academy, Mysore also spoke on the occasion.

State Minister Abhayachandra Jain, Prof. S. Prabhaker, D Harshendra Kumar, D Surendra Kumar and others were present.
