Deshpande meets victims of Kumta tanker tragedy in hospital; announces compensation

Udupi, Sep 04, 2015: State Minister for Industries and Tourism RV Deshpande has informed that the government would be offering a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of all the five persons who lost their lives in the gas tanker  mishap reported from Bargi near Kumta in Uttara Kannada district on September 1. Those injured in the tragedy would get Rs one lakh each.

The Minister gave the above information during his visit to  the KMC Hospital at Manipal on September 4, Friday to meet the eight  injured victims of the mishap who are undergoing treatment in the burns ward of the hospital.


Deshpande who also happens to be the Uttara Kannada District in-charge Minister said the  compensation will be provided from the CM’s Relief Fund.


Udupi Legislator Pramod Madhwaraj also accompanied Deshpande during his visit.
