Mangaluru, Dec 09, 2017: A young man from Bangerukatte in Parenki village near Madanthyar in Belthangady taluk had arrived at the DC office on December 8, Friday by carrying his ailing mother, all for the sake of a house which the poor mother and son are badly lacking.
Subrahmanya has no one else but his 72 year old mother Sarojamma who is sick and unable to walk. The two who have been struggling to have a roof over their head since two years . Subrahmanya has been running from pillar to post by carrying his mother as there is none to take care of her.
On Friday, he had arrived at the third floor of DC office complex and was seen seated on a bench with his mother lying over it. A few scribes who noticed the duo waiting for the DC since morning, brought their plight to the attention of Additional DC Kumar.
The two own a 2.75 cents land at Bangerukatte and also have title deed. They have applied for house under Basava housing scheme but a problem due to Aadhar number had deprived them of a house forcing the two to take shelter in temples and bus stands.
Though the erstwhile DC Dr K G Jagadish had assured a house, the local Gram Panchayat is neglecting our problem, said Subrahmanya.
The Additional DC assured to solve the problem of the two and immediately arranged an ambulance to admit Sarojamma to Belthangady Government Hospital. He said the administration had earlier helped Sarojamma avail treatment at Wenlock. Even Aadhar enrolment was done by the office staff by visiting them at the hospital. The two would soon get a house. The local panchayat has been issued instructions, said Additional DC Kumar.
