Demonetization has not changed anything: MLC Ivan

Mangaluru, Dec 31, 2016: "We have already waited for 50 days to see the effects of demonetization. The  situation  has not changed. Now there is no question of waiting anymore," said MLC and Chief Whip of State Legislative  Council Ivan D’Souza.

Speaking to reporters here on December 31, Saturday he said the demonetization decision was aimed at  benefitting BJP leaders and  has been taken without any foresight. He said the AICC has decided to hold nationwide protests and accordingly protests will also be organised in all district headquarters against demonetization, he added.

He said cashless economy is not feasible without a strong banking system. He also alleged that the PM had taken a unilateral decision on demonetization without going through the facts.

Ivan  ridiculed the demonetization drive and said just to flush out the  Rs 400 crore worth fake currency, the government has demonetized  notes valued at Rs 18,000.

After  black money and fake note eradication  motto, the government has shifted towards cashless economy motto, he said and added how it was feasible when only 12 per cent of the population has smart phones and internet connection.
