Demand for reconstitution of committee by Sugrama members

Mangaluru, Oct 29 2019:  Sugrama Elected Gram Panchayat Women Members’ Federation,  urged  a reconstitution of the standing committee in the gram panchayats of the district.

The members have urged the District In-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary to take measures to reconstitute the standing committees in all the 230 panchayats in Dakshina Kannada as per the Section 61 of the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj 2015.

This was at the Sugrama interaction programme organised by Jana Shikshana Trust, Hunge Project, Sugrama, at Mudipu Navachethana Jeevana Shikshana Kendra.

“The ward and gram sabhas should become people-friendly. Measures should be taken to build garbage-free village as per the Section 58 (E) of the Gram Swaraj Act. Separate toilet facilities are required for women in gram panchayat offices, land needs to be sanctioned for the gram panchayat building at Ananthadi, the honoraria for the panchayat, vice president and members should be raised to Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively,” demanded the members.

They said that the building of Mootaje Koppa School in Kadaba Gram Panchayat limits is in dilapidated condition.

‘Doctors’  ;  “The work on the sanctioned new school building should be accelerated. Doctors should be appointed to the community health centre at Kadaba. Of the five expert doctors sanctioned, the posts of four are vacant and need to be filled,” said Sugrama members.

Dr Selvamani, Zilla Panchayat chief executive officer, said, “The issue of notifying the habitation as per the Section 3 of the Gram Swaraj Act will be discussed with the deputy commissioner. Measures will be taken on priority to reconstitute the standing committees, to create garbage-free villages and to construct school building.”
