Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Nov 06, 2015: Expressing regret over the problems caused to public regarding delivery of Passports, Regional Passport Officer P.S. Karthigeyan said he would investigate the issue and find how the error occurred. RPO Karthigeyan told  media that millions of passports were being dispatched from the Bengaluru office and it was rare to have such a problem. Will ensure that right passports are delivered.

passportA businessman, Abubakr. of the city, now settled in Saudi Arabia, had come here two months ago to complete the formalities for the renewal of the passport of his 11-year-old son Nadeem Abubakkar and then take him to Saudi Arabia. But his pans have crashed,  the renewed passport he received is not of his son but of a resident of Bengaluru.

Similar has been the experience of Abusali Beary Mohd, of AICON, who had applied for a passport to go to Muscat for a job-related work. Though the envelope despatched from the Regional Passport Office bears his name, the passport he received is that of Nadeem Abubakkar, he said he was very worried.  Abubakar, a resident of Addur and  Mohammed, a resident of Kasba Bengre, are at a loss when asked how they would sort out the problem. Mohammad and Abubakar have tried to call the landline numbers of the Regional Passport Office, Bengaluru.

When there was no response, the two have even tried calling the toll-free number. Media has highlighted their cases. Though such things are bound to happen considering the number of dispatches daily, a system of clarity  has to be in place.
