Udupi, July 01, 2014: Several members of Agrigold scheme picketed the company’s branch office at Raj Tower near the City Bus Stand in the city on June 30, Monday following undue delay in receiving the amounts which they invested in the savings scheme of Agrigold Constructions Pvt Ltd.
According to sources, as many as 30,000 people have invested crores of rupees in the company. Each member has invested anywhere between Rs 20,000 to Rs 10 lakhs. The grouse of the customers is that the company was delaying payment of the funds since the past seven to eight months. On Monday, anxious customers gathered at the office following information that the company would distribute their invested funds.
The customers even took the company officials and agents to task which resulted in a heated exchange of words. One of the Agrigold member even said she has invested Rs five lakhs which she received after sale of land. “Now I fear losing my money,” she lamented.
The members also complained that the company’s manager was absconding. Police had maintained tight security to ensure that any untoward incident did not occur.
