Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurates state-of-the art incubation centre

Mangaluru, Dec 29, 2017: The Centre for Entrepreneurship Opportunities and Learning (CEOL), a state-of-the art incubation centre  was inaugurated  at Kadri on December 29, Friday by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said  the nation has seen the establishment of over 1000 technology related start-ups this year, while a total of 52000 start-ups are functioning making India a nation having the third largest number of start-ups. Also pointing out that there were over 25 start-ups in the defence sector itself the Minister stated that the Make in India initiative of the government will go a long way in  promoting indigenous manufacture of defence equipment. Referring to CEOL, the minister said it will be of great help to   youngsters who would like to innovate and venture into start-ups. With Bengaluru already over-crowded there is more scope for start-ups in tier-II cities like Mangaluru, she added. She also stated that  letters have been written to all MPs to set up incubation centres in their constituencies.

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil who delivered the welcome address said  youth can make it  big provided they have the talent and knowledge. He said a sum of Rs 1.5 crore has been spent from MPLAD funds for CEOL. He also requested youth to make good use of the facility.
