Deeksha wins gold medal at junior athletics championship event

Mangalore, Sept. 10, 2010: Deeksha, a student of Sacred Hearts High School, has won a gold medal at the 23rd Inter Zone Junior Athletic Championships held at Bhopal on September 4 – 7.

Deeksha (14) is the daughter of Jayanthi and Thimmappa of Neermarga and the student of coach Balakrishna. She made a successful long jump of 5.16m to win the gold medal.

Deeksha specializes in long jumps and has won several national and state awards. She had won the gold medal at the 23rd State Junior and Senior Athletic Championships Meet 2011 in Bangalore with a long jump of 5.44m and a silver medal with a high jump of 1.41m.

She won yet another gold medal at the Senior and Junior South Zone Athletic Championship Meet held in Hyderabad this year and another gold medal at the 56th National Inter Zone Athletic Championship Meet in Bhopal.
