Death of pregnant woman: Massive protest in Kundapur demanding justice

Kundapur, April 17, 2015 :  Several women’s organisations of Kundapur joined hands to stage a massive protest on April 16, Thursday demanding justice in the case of alleged rape and murder of a pregnant woman named Indira  at Gopadi recently.

Though police have already arrested one person in connection with the case, the protestors alleged that more persons were involved and demanded that all  be arrested.

They also demanded a thorough probe into the incident that has sent shockwaves in the town. The women also urged the lawyers fraternity not to fight the case for Prashanth, the arrested person in the case. The protestors have even submitted a memorandum to the Kundapur Bar Association in this regard.

Another memorandum was submitted to Kundapur AC Charulatha Somal and Tahsildar Gayatri Nayak seeking justice in the case.

The protestors later visited the police station and appealed to the police to take serious cognizance of the case and also drew attention of the police towards the  statement of some locals that they had  seen three cars moving suspiciously in Gopady on April 15 on the day the  incident took place.

Several including Radhadas, President of the women’s organisation.  Rajesh Kaveri, BJP leader, Kishore Kumar, fishermen leader, Ganapathi T Sriyan, ZP Member and leaders and members of various women’s organisations took part in the protest.
