Speaking to presspersons on the occasion, he said that all historic inscriptions that hail the heritage of Tulunadu and are in dilapidated state will be documented. Help will be sought from donors and philanthropists to complete the Tulu Bhavan project as well as to pay honorarium to teachers teaching Tulu in schools. The Tulu Bhavan project needs another Rs.3 crore and Rs.15 lakh is needed for the honorarium, he said.

A postman by profession, Mr. Kathalsar said that he will avail leave of absence from his work till he served in the academy as per provision of India Post to its employees. He said that he will not accept any honorarium from the academy during this tenure in the academy.

Mr. Kathalsar, who earlier served as member of the academy when Palthady Ramakrishna Achar was the chairman, said he will work for inclusion of Tulu in the Eighth Schedule of Indian Constitution. For this, first step is to seek recognition for Tulu as a State language and sincere efforts will be made in this direction, he said.
