Davangere student drowns at Malpe

Udupi, Dec 30, 2017: A student from Halivan village in Davangere district, who was playing in the sea at Malpe beach, drowned, when he was carried away  by waves Dec 29, Friday.

According to the Malpe police, 54 students from Government High School, Halivan village, Harihara taluk, Davangere district, had come on an educational tour to the Malpe beach.

Though the teachers had asked the students not to get into the water in the sea, Manjunath A.K., a student of class 9, got into the sea, slipped and fell into it.

He was carried away by the waves and drowned. The Malpe Life Guard searched for him.
