Pointing out the fact that funds earmarked for the uplift of the SC/ST communities are either being diverted or unused, he said that the government has provided reservation facilities only for employees and not for the rest of the community. He urged the government to provide self-employment loans so that Dalits can enjoy economic equality.

Stating that the state has allotted 430 crore for Dalit development and that the BBMP has provided 10,000 houses to homeless Dalits, he urged the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) to identify homeless people and provide houses for them.

He said that Dalit leaders will organize a training camp for Dalit leaders under the guidance of the Karnataka Dalitha Pragathipara Sangatanegala Okkuta. The focus of the camp is to create awareness regarding reservation and its implementation through a wide range of programmes. The organizers expect 300 Dalit leaders to participate in the event.

Dalit leaders Keshava, Sajeeva Neriya, A. G. Vivekananda, and Venkatesh were also present on the occasion.
