Dakshina Kannada records single biggest spike of 238 Covid-19 cases, Udupi 109

Mangaluru, July 16, 2020: Dakshina Kannada district recorded its biggest one-day spike of 238 Covid-19 positive cases and six deaths on Thursday, July 16. Udupi on the other hand recorded 109 positive cases and two deaths.

Out of the 147 cases reported in DK, 19 are foreign returnees, 106 were categorised as cases of influenza like illness (ILI), 17 cases of SARI and 23 are primary contacts of other patients. As many as 74 patients were discharged today.

With this the total Covid 19 positive cases in the DK district rose to 2763. As many as 1163 persons have been discharged, 1,537 cases are currently active and 63 deaths have occurred so far.

In Udupi, out of 109 cases, 36 cases reported from Udupi taluk, 62 are from Kundapur and 11 from Karkala. Now, the Udupi district has a total of 1895 cases with 428 still being treated at the designated hospitals. 1,462 patients recovered and discharged, including 80 persons discharged on Thursday. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada. The district has reported seven COVID-19 fatality.
