Dakshina Kannada police gets 10 more alcohol breath analysers

Mangaluru, Nov 30, 2016 : In order to curb drink and driving cases in the jurisdiction of Dakshina Kannada district police, a private firm has donated 10 alcohol breath analysers as part of its CSR activities.


Total Oil India Private Limited handed over devices to Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, superintendent of police on Tuesday. "These equipments will now be put into extensive use in highways across our jurisdiction. Of late, we have been witnessing lot of road accidents in DK. This will decrease if there are fewer incidents of drunken driving," Borase added.


Earlier these devices were given only to personnel of traffic police station. But now, personnel in police stations who have national highways under their jurisdiction, too will use them, the SP said, adding a person found driving after consuming alcohol is liable to pay a fine of Rs 3,000.
