Dakshina Kannada peaceful; situation under control : DC Ibrahim

Mangaluru, Nov 14, 2015: Dakshina Kannada District Deputy Commissioner A. B. Ibrahim has informed that the  Chief Secretary of the State Government has sought a report on the law and order situation in the district.

DC Ibrahim_Speaking to reporters at his office on November 14, Saturday, DC Ibrahim informed that the law and order situation  was presently well under control. The DC also stated that no untoward incident has been reported from anywhere in the district during the day.

He further stated that the Prohibitory orders under Section 144 will be in place until November 15, Sunday night as a precautionary measure in the wake of the murder of a youth at BC road on November 12 and the subsequent  incidents of sporadic violence reported from various parts of the district.

The DC stated that some violent incidents took place at Karaya in Belthangady and in Ullal on November 13 night and that  four people have been arrested in connection with the incident of stoning a mosque at Bunder on the same day.

The DC said except for the inaugural of the renovated Town Hall in Mangaluru  and the Yakshotsava silver jubilee function at Sampaje no other functions have been allowed on November 14 and 15.

He  requested the public not to pay heed to rumours, particularly on social networking sites and  sought their help in maintaining peace in the society. The media should also show restraint while reporting to ensure that peace prevails in the district, he added.
