Mangaluru, Mar 09, 2018: The DYFI which has been on an indefinite dharna since the past seven days to protest against the irregularities in the Suratkal market building construction issue, has demanded a thorough probe into the temporary market building tender process and construction related issues.
Addressing reporters on March 9, Friday, Muneer Katipalla, State President of the DYFI urged the Deputy Commissioner to intervene and initiate action against those who have misused public property. He also demanded that everything right from shifting and distribution of shops should be done systematically. The shop distribution process which is already complete should be cancelled and done afresh, he urged.
He alleged that the distribution of shops done through lottery had a lot of discrepancies with shops in strategic positions given to those close the MLA and other influential forces. Those who availed shops through foul means have tried to alter the building as per their wish, he alleged. Though a complaint was lodged by the MCC after the DC was apprised, once again the market lobby is ahead with the demolition works, he complained.
B K Imtiyaz, Srinivas Hosabettu and others were present.
