DVS promises to resign if charged with corruption

Udupi, Nov 2, 2011 :Addressing a huge rally in Udupi, held as part of Advani’s Jan Chethana Yatra, CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda declared that he will resign immediately if he is charged with corruption, adding that he will give no chance for corruption as long as he is the CM.

K. S. Eshwarappa, the president of the state BJP, presided over the event. In his presidential address, he said that former CM B. S. Yeddyurappa resigned as soon as corruption charges were made against him, but Delhi CM Sheila Dixit has not resigned even one year after corruption charges were made against her.

Later, a collection of photographs of Advani were released by Advani and the Udupi Zilla BJP honored Advani.


Advani’s speech, delivered on the occasion, was translated from Hindi to Kannada by Anantha Kumar, the convener of the Ratha Yatra. The dignitaries on the dais were Ravishankar Prasad, the spokesperson of BJP; Shyam Jijo and Muralidhara Rao, the secretaries of BJP; Nalin Kumar Kateel, the state convener of the ratha yatra; Sunil Kumar, the district convener of the ratha yatra; Raghupathi Bhat, the MLA of Udupi; Lalaji Mendon, the MLA of Kaup; and Kota Shrinivasa Poojary, the member of the Vedhana Parishad, among others.


Udaykumar Shetty, the president of the Udupi district BJP, delivered the welcome address; Gujjadi Prabhakara  Nayak was the MC; and Shyamala Kunder proposed the vote of thanks.
