DSS flays Ramdev’s remarks

Mangalore, May 1, 2014 (DHNS): Karnataka Dalitha Sangharsh Samithi staged a protest in front of Town Hall on Wednesday, demanding the arrest of Yoga Expert Baba Ramdev for his controversial statement on Dalits

 

 

 

 

 

 

The protesters led by DSS District Convener Raghu K Ekkar, burnt the effigy of Ramdev and performed his ‘last rites’, following which Dalit women garlanded his photograph with sandals.

Condemning for insulting Dalits with his statement, they demanded the government to arrest him and punish him under the provisions of law.

The protesters later submitted a memorandum to the DC to be forwarded to he Governor, in which they said that “by using the words ‘honeymoon’ and ‘picnic’, Ramdev has insulted Dalit community, specially the Dalit women.
The protesters later took out a protest rally from Town Hall to the DC’s office.
