DK on alert, rain, flood threat in ghat foot hills

Mangaluru, Sep 26, 2019: Unexpected  increase in inflow of water with heavy rain in the foothills of Western Ghats has resulted in an increase in the flow of water into rivulets.  This has inundated farmlands situated on the banks of rivulets.

The Charmadi-Mugulidadka Road was damaged in the flash floods.  The rivulet is flowing at danger level in Kankkinje of Belthangady taluk. There is also a threat of flood in Didupe, Pharlani, Antara, Kolambe, Kukkavu villages in the district.

The flood threat has made the villagers worry for their future.

IMD has sounded orange alert in Dakshina Kannada and the region is likely to get heavy rain ranging between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm rainfall today, September 26, Thursday.

Mangaluru experienced light showers Wednesday night as well as last night. The sky had remained overcast throughout.
