DK notes 544 absent on first day of SSLC exam, 195 in Udupi, first day

Mangaluru, Mar 31, 2017: The new system of giving question paper and answer sheet separately was gladly accepted by Class 10 students in Dakshina Kannada district on the first day of the SSLC examination on Thursday. As many as 31,096 students wrote the first language paper.

According to officials in the office of the Deputy Director of Public Instructions, Dakshina Kannada, the question papers reached the 91 examination centres on time.

As per the directions of the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, the examination started at 9.30 a.m. and candidates were allowed to enter the examination hall till 9.45 a.m.

Students said that there was no problem with the new regulations.


 “We knew of these changes. It is good we are now allowed to take the question paper home,” said Joseph S., a student of St. Aloysius School. Joseph and his classmates found their English language paper easy.

Of the 31,640 students registered for the first language papers in English, Kannada and Urdu, 31,096 wrote the exam. As many as 33,518 students from 500 schools are writing the SSLC examination this year in the district. Of the 33,518 students, 32,222 are regular students and 1,296 are private candidates.

In Udupi, 14,834 take the exam on day one .


As many as 195 candidates were absent on the first day of the SSLC examination in Udupi district on Thursday.

According to the Deputy Director of Public Instructions, out of the 15,029 candidates registered for the examinations, 14,834 appeared for the first language examination. No malpractice or any other untoward incident has been reported in the district.
