DK in-charge Minister warns organisers not to disturb peace

Mangaluru, Feb 8, 2015 : DK  District-in-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai has said stern action will be initiated against organisers if any untoward incidents occur aftermath of a programme which is communal in nature.


ramanatha rai Briefing reporters here on Feb 7, he said such programmes are disturbing peace and harmony in society and is causing inconvenience to innocent public.

The police will be directed to initiate stern action against the troublemakers. Stating that Dakshina Kannada is a sensitive district, Rai said that the district police will ensure that no section of the civil society is troubled in any way.

Regarding ’Congressman’ Vijaynath Vittal Shetty presiding over a Hindu Samajotsava scheduled to be held on March 1, Rai said that the Congress has lakh of leadership and Shetty is not Congressman.

Those who lead the programme will be held responsible if any untoward incidents occur. Projecting communal issues, a few are trying to become leaders, he alleged.

On auto fare etc - meets

To a query on revision of auto fare, the Minister said that he has directed the RTA to convene a meeting to review the auto fare announced by the RTA recently. "When the autorickshaws went off the road for three days, I persuaded them to withdraw the strike. The auto drivers are daily wage labourers who work for their livelihood.

The auto fare should be fixed after taking into account the interest of auto drivers and general public."On the problems faced by the residents of Jokatte who are affected by MRPL’s Coke and Sulphur Unit, he said that a meeting will be convened shortly.
