DK forms ’District Medical Board’ for medical disputes

Mangaluru, oct 06, 2017: DK Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.G. Jagadeesha has constituted the District Medical Board to hear complaints of excessive treatment charges and allegations against doctors of medical negligence.


Medical 6The board will comprise the District Health Officer, the president of the district unit of Indian Medical Association, health officers from five taluks and specialists in paediatrics, orthopaedics and gynaecology. According to a press release, the board was constituted following a meeting with doctors following incidents of attacks on medical professionals. Any complaint against the doctor and the treatment will be inquired into and the board will submit its finding before the Deputy Commissioner, the release said. Complaints should be filed in writing to the District Health Officer or to the President of the district unit of the IMA.

Any instance of assault would be dealt in a firm way by the jurisdictional police inspector, the release said.
