Mangaluru, Jan 08, 2015: The DK Zilla Panchayat meeting held here on January 7, Wednesday has resolved to take a delegation to the state government seeking to end the confusion over the implementation of Basava Housing Scheme. The delegation would also urge the government to provide adequate grants for rural drinking water facility.
The meet was chaired by Zilla Panchayt President Asha Timmappa Gowda. Addressing the meeting, ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni said of the 1,403 applications under Basava Housing Scheme, 483 were rejected. The second proposal for 920 houses was sent and of this the government agreed to sanction funds for 678 houses while 242 were rejected. She said already first and second phase funds for house construction were released, but the rejection at the last stage and serving repayment notices was not proper.
Several members including Zilla Panchayat Vice President Satish Kumpala said the sanction of funds for the 242 houses should not be rejected on any grounds.
The meeting also discussed various other issues including construction of vented dams under SRDWP scheme.
