DK ZP to get ‘Best ZP’ award in Delhi

Mangalore, Oct 01, 2014: Reports published inform that  Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat has been adjudged as the "Best ZP"  by the department of Rural Development and Government of India. Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan will give away the award at New Delhi on October 1. DK ZP President Asha Thimmappa Gowda, Vice President Sathish Kumpala and Standing Committee on Agriculture and Industry President Balakrishna Banajalu will receive the award.

Also the, ’Best Gandhi Grama Puraskar, Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikarana Abhiyan’ financial assistance and cleanliness award will be presented at Banquet Hall in Vidhana Soudha on October 2 at 4.30 pm. Kolnadu, Laila, Thenkamijaru, Golithottu and Sampaje Gram Panchayats have been selected for ‘Gandhi Grama Puraskar.’ The award will carry a cash prize of Rs five lakh each. Under Rajeev Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikarana Abhiyan, DK ZP has received Rs 50 lakh and Bannur GP has received Rs 17 lakh.

In the divisional-level category, Laila GP has won Clealiness award. The award carries a cash prize of Rs five lakh. In the State-level, Laila has won second place.  The award carries a cash prize of Rs seven lakh. Belthangady taluk has won first place in the divisional-level award. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. The taluk has won second place in the state-level award. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh . Public is keen to know how all this reward money is to be utilised.
