It is said that right wing organisations were planing to ensure that Tipu Jayanti was not held this time, for which sources have said that a few round of meetings have already been held.

An official stated that some organizations observed a bandh at Bhagamandala and that was related to Tipu Jayanti; there were two groups, one opposing Tipu Jayanti and the other which believed that Tipu did not massacre any Kodavas. He added that this contradiction itself was enough to initiate a clash in the coming days.

In the meantime, intelligence officials have suggested that Tipu Jayanti might not be a smooth affair this time and as per the reliability, situations might be more violent this year when compared to last year.

They were quick to add that the communally sensitive areas such as Mangaluru, Udupi and Shivamogga might also be affected during this year’s celebrations. Hence, police departments have been informed to take precautionary measures to ensure no untoward incidents took place.

Tipu Jayanti celebrations took a violent turn when VHP activist Kutappa was killed on November 10, 2015.
