DK DC for speeding up Aadhaar enrolment process in district

Mangaluru, June 8,2017: Reports spell out that a total of 21,01,494 persons have registered for Aadhaar cards in Dakshina Kannada district. With this, 91.66% citizens have been covered under Aadhaar, DK DC Dr K G Jagadeesha said.


jagadeeshdcSpeaking after inaugurating a workshop for district -level officials and anganwadi supervisors here on June 7, Wednesday, he said that the target was to enroll 22,84,222 under Aadhaar. A total of 6.1 crore people have been enrolled for Aadhaar in Karnataka. About 37 lakh people are yet to register names for Aadhaar cards, he added.

With Aadhaar, the confusion over identity cards in the country will be solved. The process of enrolment for Aadhaar has to be speeded up in the district, he said.

E-governance project manager Ravi Kumar said Aadhaar is mandatory to get benefits of several government schemes. The workshop is being organised to solve confusion over Aadhaar seeding for various welfare schemes. Awareness will be created on Aadhaar attestation, e-signature and DigiLocker, he added.

He said one need not worry about losing Aadhaar card. Its copy can be collected from the website - www.uidai.gov.in. Any doubts on Aadhaar can be cleared by dialling toll free number 1947, he said.

Women and child development department deputy director Sundar Poojary said anganwadi workers have been given tablets to enrol children aged below five years. About 89% target has been achieved. The remaining children will be enrolled within a month, he added.
