DK DC Ibrahim issues circular to staff regarding ‘decent dress’ while on duty

Mangaluru, July 13, 2015 :   Dakshina Kannada district administration in a circular has directed officials to wear “decent dress” while in public, it has come to light.  A circular of  June 18, issued by DK DC  Adoor.B. Ibrahim said that  government officials and employees wearing T Shirts, fancy shirts, jeans trousers, etc., have come to the notice of the administration. Employees should avoid the practice and  wear  clean and decent dresses, befitting government servants.

The instruction should be followed without fail while receiving VVIPs, including the President, the Vice-President, the Prime Minister, the Lok Sabha Speaker, the Chief Justice of India, and judges, Governors and the Chief Minister during their visit to the district.

The officials should also be clear about  the names and designations of the visiting VVIPs.

To a query as to what constitutes “decent dress”, DC  Ibrahim said  that all civilized people know what is a decent dress befitting a government servants.   An official wearing a pair of jeans trousers and a T Shirt while welcoming the Governor during his recent visit to Mangaluru compelled  DC  Ibrahim to issue the circular.

Every government employee represents the government and his appearance in public should be in a manner that enhanced the government image.  Recently the DC  had sent away an employee of the transport department from a meeting as the latter was wearing a pair of jeans trousers and a printed, collar-less T Shirt. 

The circular dealt in detail also with the procedure to be followed while providing transportation, arranging accommodation, etc., for the visiting VVIPs.
