DK COVID-19 status upgraded to Orange; Udupi gets Green

Mangaluru, April 28, 2020:   As per the latest district wise classification released by the state government, status of Dakshina Kannada in COVID-19 active cases has improved to Orange signifying prevalence of 6-14 active cases of infection. The district was earlier graded ‘Red’ meaning 15 or more cases. Bengaluru (Urban), Mysuru, Belagavi, Bagalkot, Vijayapura and Kalburgi districts presently continue to be in the red zone.

In the meanwhile Udupi district has been graded ‘Green’, meaning zero active cases. The states four categories include Yellow indicating 1-5 cases.

So far Dakshina Kannada district has recorded 21 corona virus positive cases. Out of this, 12 people have been deemed completely cured and discharged from hospital. Two women patients have succumbed to the disease and seven people are presently under treatment.

The District Administration has acted swiftly in trying to combat the menace with intense tracking, monitoring and quarantine of suspected cases as and when they came up.

Further, the district administration has sealed off certain areas like Kakkebettu in Shaktinagara, Sajipanadu and Thumbe in Bantwal, Janata colony in Karaya of Beltangady, Smart planet apartment in Thokkottu, Sampya Mane in Puttur, Uppinangady in Puttur and Ajjavara in Sullia and First Neuro Hospital in Padil as containment zones.
