DH Journalist Donates Rs. 1 Lakh Award Cheque to Education Trust

The winner of the prestigious Sarojini Naidu National Award 2009, Dr. Ronald Anil Fernandes from Deccan Herald, donated his award cheque worth Rs 1 lakh to Janashikshana Trust, a social service organization, to be used for the purposes of social service and for the education of tribal people. 

On Oct 2, Dr. Fernandes received the award from Dr. Shashi Tharoor, the union minister of state for external affairs. Later, he went to Janashikshana Trust and donated the cheque to Mr. Sheena Shetty, the director of the trust. 

The director and managing board of the trust have expressed their gratitude to Dr. Fernandes for his act of philanthropy.
