DC warns of stern action against child marriage

Mangaluru, Sep 05, 2020:     Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V has warned of stern action against those conducting child marriage.

 

Addressing a meeting of various committees  of the Department of Women and Child Development at the Netravathi Auditorium of DK ZP on September 4, Friday, he said in the event of child marriage, the parents,   owners of  wedding halls,  printing press which printed the wedding invitation and those conducting the wedding rituals will be booked. The officials should not permit child marriage for any reason, he added.

The sanitary pads supplied by the government should be provided to all girls in schools by the officers concerned  of the Department and  the students should be sensitized on its use and disposal, the DC said.

CWC President Renny D’Souza urged the administration to check the practice of child labour and said  many children from other states are found engaged in different works in the district.
