Mangaluru, Sep 30, 2015 : Deputy Commissioner A.B.Ibrahim has urged the people of Mangaluru to send in their feedback regarding the Smart City Project by October 5.
Speaking to reporters at his office here on September 30, Wednesday, the Deputy Commissioner while stating that every citizen needs to give his feedback on the topic, added that Mangaluru which is in the Top 100 cities list will have to make it to the Top 20 list to be eligible for the first phase of Smart City Project.
Regretting that the citizens were not evincing that interest in submitting their vision statement, the DC urged for more public participation and urged public to send their vision statements by logging on to www.mygov.in.
The DC said so far 320 feedbacks and 109 feedbacks through gmail have been received. The Administration has even started bulk SMS to convey the message to the people.
The best vision statement will win a prize money of Rs one lakh or else the best four will get Rs 25,000 each, he added.
There will be a public interaction on the topic on October 4 at 5 pm at Mini Vidhana Saudha. TV shows are also being held from September 30 to enlighten he public, he said and added that Citizens’ participation is vital.
Dilip Kumar, Consultant stated that a Smart City will make the best use of information and communication technologies to improve the quality of services while also reducing costs as well as resource consumption.
DK District Minister B Ramanatha Rai said if Mangaluru was selected for the project, then it would be entitled for Rs 100 crore each from the state and Central Governments for a five year period.
