DC meets victims of violence; says govt will foot their medical bills

Mangaluru, Dec 9, 2014 : Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim who on December 9, Tuesday, visited the S.C.S. Hospital in the city where the  victims of  recent incidents of sporadic violence are receiving treatment,  has  said that  the medical expenses of the victims will be borne by the state government.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the victims, the Deputy Commissioner said  the Police Department has brought the situation under control. It may be recalled here that the city and its vicinity witnessed several untoward incidents following the December 5 incident wherein Datta Peetha pilgrims were attacked at Ulaibettu near Vamanjoor.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that a total of 12 persons were hospitalised following injuries and that four have been discharged. He also stated that the remaining  eight who are still undergoing treatment are out of danger.

The DC further warned of strict action against those resorting to violence  and appealed to the public not to pay heed to rumours.

He also stated that a peace meet will be held at the Police Commissioner’s office on December 9, Tuesday evening in the presence of several leaders.
