DC directive to LPG dealers to supply cylinders within ten days of booking

Mangaluru, Dec 29, 2014: At the  Domestic LPG Consumers Grievance Redressal Meet convened at the DC office here on December 29, Monday, the District Administration has directed  oil companies and LPG distribution agencies to supply cylinders to consumers within ten days. The Administration also said complaints can be filed against the agencies if they fail to heed to the directive.

Earlier presiding over the meeting, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim said the administration has received several  complaints of long delay in supplying LPG cylinders and stressed the need to solve the same at the earliest.

Dinaker Tonse, Regional General Manager of BPCL said  as is the procedure a cylinder has to be supplied within 48 hours of booking, but the procedure may take time depending on its transportation from the  refill station to the distribution agency and from there to the consumer.

The DC finally instructed the BPCL, HPCL, IOCL as well as their dealers to  supply cylinders within ten days and asked aggrieved consumers to  call the toll free numbers of the oil companies   to lodge complaints.

On the Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG scheme, the DC said  just 22 per cent progress has been registered as  many have not linked their accounts.

BPCL Regional  General Manager Dinaker Tonse said  an advance of Rs 568 will be credited to the bank account  of the consumer  no sooner the first booking is made and once the cylinder is delivered  the subsidy will be credited the same day, he added.

All  oil companies were asked by the DC to hold grievance redressal meets every month to facilitate consumers.
